HAN DYNASTY 202 BCE-220 CE
After the civil war with the Qin Dynasty ended a new one would begin. China was reunited with the Han Dynasty. Many emperors help lead the Han Dynasty. Lui Bang led the army that conquered the Qin Dynasty. The Han Dynasty expanded as far as the Tarim Basin. This helped secure the silk road. See where the Han Dynasty was located below.
The map to the left shows where the Han Dynasty was located and how large this Dynasty really was.
At this time literature, art, culture and technology was thriving. Paper was invented. It was made from hemp leaves, tree bark and linen. Paper was very useful because it was an addition to their pride and skills with scholarships and writing skills. The compass was also invented at this time. It helped them navigate where they were going when expanding their territory.
Even with all these advancements the Han Dynasty would soon fall. Due to promises that were not met to the people. The Han promised to ban slave trade, control the rich class and redistribute wealth throughout the country. The people became unhappy and a soldier killed their leader. His tombs were robbed and severely damaged. Thanks to Guang Wudi for taking control and making the Han Dynasty last for 200 more years before it officially ended.
